Know when the services you pay for change the deal.

FinePrint watches the terms, pricing pages, and privacy policies of your subscriptions. When something changes, FinePrint posts a short plain-English note on the Ledger and in your report: what changed, what it means for you, and what you can do.

FinePrint’s own fine print

Paid FinePrint plans renew automatically (Plain English: a paid plan keeps charging each billing period until you cancel it.) and charge your payment method at the start of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel online at any time from your account page, and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for (Plain English: cancelling stops the next charge, and the time you already paid for stays yours.).

Cancel online from your account page in a few clicks. No phone call or email needed. Cancellation stops future charges. We do not refund partial periods unless the law requires it. (Plain English: cancel partway through a period and the unused days are not refunded.)

Scout’s noteReading the fine print.

Free for up to 3 services. No account until the end. We never ask for access to your inbox or bank. Paid plans are billed securely through Stripe; we never see your full card number.

1. List your services

Pick from 50 common subscriptions and 25 small-business tools. Plan, price, and renewal date are optional.

2. We check the documents

Up to four times a day we compare each service's terms, privacy policy, and pricing page with the last version we saw.

3. Read the short version

On the Ledger and in your report, each change quotes the exact sentence, links to the source, and is rated High, Medium, or Low impact.

Stripe · October 31, 2026high impact

  • Stripe now charges a fee every time you fight a disputed payment.
  • You don't get it back, even if you win.

The What

When a customer disputes a charge, you can appeal to try to keep the money. Stripe now adds a fee to every appeal you file.

The Why

Every dispute you fight now eats into the sale you're trying to save. Payout fees changed too, and the new amount depends on how you send money.

iCloud+ · October 30, 2026Perk!

  • Up to six people can share one iCloud+ plan.
  • Nobody has to share a password.

The What

Apple's Family Sharing lets you share iCloud+ and other Apple services with up to five family members. Each person still signs in with their own Apple Account.

The Why

If people in your house each pay for iCloud+ on their own, you could be paying for the same thing more than once. Only one person sets it up, and there's a rule about who that can be.

  • Gemini and Search can use your Gmail, Photos and Drive.
  • It only happens if you say yes.

The What

Google's privacy policy now says Search and Gemini can use your Gmail, Photos and Drive to shape their results, if you allow it. It also describes a new feature called Personal Intelligence.

The Why

If you use Gmail or Google Photos, this decides whether what's in them can shape Gemini's answers. Whether it's on for you depends on a choice you may have already made.

Google One · October 30, 2026Perk!

  • Up to 6 people can use one Google One plan.
  • Nobody else has to pay extra.

The What

Google One plans from Basic and up can include you plus 5 more people, for 6 in all, at no added cost. A few benefits stay with the plan manager.

The Why

If people in your home each pay for Google storage, one shared plan could cover all of you. Some perks only go to the person who manages the plan, so it helps to know which.

Verizon · October 17, 2026high impact Historical, imported

  • Verizon may share some of your info with the Glance app.
  • This only applies if you join Verizon Dollars through Glance.

The What

Verizon's privacy policy adds a part on Glance, a lock screen app where Verizon Dollars members earn rewards. Verizon may share some info with Glance to check if you qualify, pay rewards and help with support.

The Why

If you say yes, Glance may also use your info, including sensitive info, for ads under its own rules. You can stop by removing the app, and each Verizon brand has its own privacy choices page.

Spotify Premium · October 30, 2026Perk!

  • Some Spotify Premium plans include audiobook hours each month.
  • Hours you don't use do not roll over.

The What

Some Spotify Premium plans come with a set number of audiobook hours each month from the Spotify catalog. The hours renew each billing cycle, and unused time expires every month.

The Why

If you already pay for Premium, you may have free audiobook time you are not using. Not every plan gets it, and on shared plans only one person does.

  • In five states, Verizon now says it may sell your info.
  • Voice sign-in details were removed from the policy.

The What

Verizon now says it may disclose or sell the info of people in five states, including Oregon and Minnesota. It also dropped voice sign-in, kept face sign-in and changed a Frontier opt-out number.

The Why

People in those states can now ask which companies get their info. If you set up a voiceprint, the policy no longer explains how it's handled.

YouTube Premium · October 30, 2026Perk!

  • YouTube Premium includes YouTube Music with no ads.
  • You can download songs and play them in the background.

The What

YouTube Premium comes with the YouTube Music app. You can listen without ads, save music to play offline and keep it playing while you use other apps.

The Why

If you pay for YouTube Premium and also pay for another music app, you may be paying twice. It only works where the YouTube Music app is offered.

  • Apple may add local storage taxes to your iCloud+ bill.
  • Your total could be more than the plan price.

The What

Apple may now pass on any taxes or levies your country or region puts on iCloud storage. The older terms only mentioned taxes in general.

The Why

Depending on where you live, you could pay more than the price you see for iCloud+. The extra cost would show up as a line on your bill, so it's worth knowing where to look.

  • Costco members get one extra card for someone in their home.

  • You can't join a group lawsuit against Spotify anymore.
  • Disputes would mostly be handled one person at a time.

The What

Under Spotify's new terms, you can't join any group lawsuit or group private hearing against Spotify. The rules also cover older claims and set New York courts for disputes outside a private hearing.

The Why

If something goes wrong, you would likely have to take it on alone instead of with other users. There is a 30-day window to opt out of part of this, and the full note explains it.

Costco Membership · October 30, 2026Perk!

  • Costco's 100% guarantee covers your membership, not just products.
  • There are a few exceptions.

The What

Costco offers a risk-free 100% guarantee that you will be satisfied, and it covers your membership too, not only the things you buy. Some limited exceptions apply.

The Why

If you are unhappy with your Costco membership, the guarantee may cover the membership itself, not just what you bought. There are some limits, and the return policy spells them out.
